VIAAS provides video and surveillance intelligence as a web application. With their Power over Ethernet enabled devices, VIAAS users can capture, store, and analyze vast amounts of video data, without having to purchase a tape or hard drive-based system.

Enablus was engaged to assist this group in building a web product to navigate massive quantities of video surveillance data. The application lets users quickly find important video footage, and perform a number of other functions. Users can mark video for future reference, or cut, copy, paste, and send those clips to internal and external sources.

One of the biggest challenges with the VIAAS application was taking a whole lot of data and putting it on screen so the customer can view it in a usable manner. The VIAAS monitoring system allows users to have multiple cameras in multiple places all running at the same time. With all this video, it can be hard to find a particular event without knowing the exact time and place that it happened.
To solve that, we used visualizations and mapped out data according to time. For a given period, we show how much data was being pulled at each moment. By looking at a visual indicator of where all the data stacks up, you're able to see where to look for a particular incident. Then you can drill down, and each data point becomes more visible, until you get to the actual video clip. With that, you can view it, share it, bookmark it, or save it for later.
Andy Williams-
As we were developing the software product, we were also asked to design the packaging and the form factor for the camera, the hard goods that were being sold.
Dean Nguyen-
This was a fun project, because we got to work with a manufacturer in China, and design a whole new structure from scratch. They created prototypes for us, and we were able to review them within a few days. We could see how well the parts fit together, and make our revisions. We wanted the cameras to look unique from everything else that was on the market. The finished product is a very slim, streamlined camera that seems to disappear in certain environments.
